Passion for APIFM: I first was introduced to APIFM through its Community Supported Agriculture program and loved the fresh produce and ability to support local Asian farmers. I’ve also been a participant of the “Walk the Walk” program which was a lot of fun and motivated me to get active. APIFM’s work is critical to serving Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities throughout Los Angeles!

Work Affiliation: Community Partners: Leslie Toy has dedicated her career to championing health equity issues for communities of color through her work at various non-profits and civil rights organizations across the country. In her current role at Asian Resources, Inc, she leads strategic partnerships with over 60 California community based organizations and clinics through the Health Justice Network, which aims to reduce health disparities across AANHPIs and other communities of color through culturally competent outreach, education, and enrollment. She has worked at Advancing Justice-LA’s Health Access Project and was the Norman Y. Mineta Fellow through the Japanese American Citizens League in Washington DC. She has also served on the Washington D.C. and Los Angeles boards of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum. Leslie graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and is a proud third/fifth-generation Chinese American.

Fun fact: Leslie enjoys listening to podcasts and taking HIIT workouts at Orangetheory Fitness.
