Building on the work of the APIFM HEAL Team between 2016-2019, Food Roots Nourish partners with neighborhood-based groups to facilitate food, nutrition and physical activity programs that center immigrant Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Through our Food & Cooking, Movement and Community Health projects, Food Roots Nourish partners with community and faith based leaders to provide:
- Recipe demonstrations and cooking workshops
- Access to locally grown and culturally relevant produce
- Education and enrollment access to CalFresh among AAPIs
- Accessible tai chi & qi gong for immigrant Chinese elders in Chinatown
- Active engagement with the Pacific Islander community to ensure culturally and linguistically appropriate COVID-19 information through food distribution partnerships
