As the Program Manager of the API Forward Movement's Sustainable SGV program, Je-Show Yang, is passionately dedicated to empowering local residents to positively impact the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) communities. In his role, Je-Show is acutely aware of the pollution burdens faced by SGV communities, primarily due to their proximity to numerous freeways. He recognizes that a key strategy to address pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in the SGV is through promoting multimodal transit. Given that transportation is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, encouraging alternative modes of transport is seen as a crucial step towards a more sustainable and healthier environment.
His work involves close collaboration with both the residents and elected officials, where he emphasizes the development and implementation of environmental policies and projects. In particular, he is focused on creating multi-benefit stormwater capture projects. This is to address critical issues such as improving air quality, enhancing water conservation and capture, ensuring safe streets, and fostering climate resilience in the region. Previously, Je-Show worked in public affairs where he used his skills in policy research, coalition building, and project management to improve opportunities for underserved groups.
As a first-generation immigrant from Taiwan, he believes in creating and supporting community infrastructure that enables people of color to play a role in determining policies. Je-Show graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida with a B.A. in political science and economics with a minor in Chinese. In his free time, Je-Show enjoys trying new recipes, exploring the cuisine of the SGV, and practicing Chinese calligraphy.
