We recently had to say good-bye to our Kid’s Town graduating students who will be moving onto kindergarten, but are so glad they were able to create fun memories in the school garden with us. We recently completed a lesson on purple rice! The students were eager to share the different kinds of rice they eat at home and try this colorful version. They have also been working hard in the garden, watering the peach tree that is starting to fruit!
Another good-bye will have to happen at the end of September, as the gardening teachers from APIFM move onto new sites and projects. With this new shift happening, we need YOU to join us! Kid’s Town is looking for volunteers to help the school garden continue to flourish. A team of Master Gardeners will be partnering with our teachers for training and garden planning, but we need many more hands to keep this garden healthy.
Please reach out to Courtney, our current Health Educator at KYCC Kid’s Town, if you are interested in helping: courtney@apifm.org.
